Palyul Tarthang Khanpo JANGLING Rinpoche

Beginning at the early age of 13, Jangling Rinpoche received tonsure (vows) and extensive teachings from Getse Khenchen Lobsang Sherab, an emanation of Mahasiddha Thangtong Gyalpo. He completed the full course on five minor and five major Tibetan Buddhist sciences which included Tibetan and Sanskrit literature, astrology and Buddhist philosophy.

At the age of 20, Rinpoche received Bhikshu ordination vows (the highest ordination level) from Lhatrul Ogyen Garwang Nyima Rinpoche, of Palyul Tarthang Monastery, and an emanation of Vajrapani. From him he also received all the instructions on performing Buddhist rituals and how to follow all the precepts of Bhikshu vows according to the Vinaya Sutra. He has studied in the Buddhist Colleges at Tarthang Monastery in Golok, Larong Monastery Institute in Serta, Ngagyur Nyingma Institute at Namdroling Monastery, India and other places. Rinpoche has completed his study in Sutra, using the Five Abidhama Texts. He also completed Generation and Completion stage practice, focusing on the Guhyasamaja Tantra. Rinpoche has also received complete initiation, transmission and pith instruction teachings on Dzogchen Thoegal from Khenchen Munsel Rinpoche. Khenchen Munsel, an emanation of Longchen Rabjam, a supreme Dzogchen master, was very pleased with Rinpoches understanding and accomplishment and counts Jangling Rinpoche among his most distinguished disciples.

Jangling Rinpoche has also received teachings from the 10th Panchen Lama Rinpoche, the 14th Dalai Lama, Kyabje Khenchen Jigme Phuntsok, His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, Kyabje Dodrupchen Rinpoche, Tri Gungthang Rinpoche, Sakya Gongma and other contemporary Tibetan Buddhist masters as well. He went on pilgrimage and did short practice retreats in holy places in Tibet, China, Nepal and India.

In 1999, H.H. Penor Rinpoche brought him to the Palyul Retreat Center in upstate New York, and appointed him as Tsalung instructor.

Later he was sent to Macau as the representative of H.H. Penor Rinpoche to organize the Palyul Dharma Center. He formally registered the Macau Nyingmapa Palyul Changchug Dagyeling Dharma Centre and ran it for eleven years. At the same time, he also held the position of an honorable consultant to the Macau Buddhist Association.

In 2002, he was formally enthroned as a Khenpo at Palyul Tarthang Monastery. During the early difficult beginning in Macau, Jangling Rinpoche used all his efforts to maintain the centre, by giving teachings to spread the dharma and gathering support from local people and businesses. Finally, the Macau Palyul Centre became a complete dharma centre with full local cooperation and a friendly atmosphere. H.H. Penor Rinpoche greatly appreciated Jangling Rinpoche and all the member students of the Macau Palyul Center during his visits to Macau. H.H. Penor Rinpoche advised students on several occasions that they should try harder to learn about Buddhist practices from Jangling Rinpoche as he is not only a good Buddhist monk but also a very knowledgeable Buddhist master. H.H. praised him on several occasions in Hong Kong, India, the U.S. and other places, in appreciation for the hard work he did in Macau.

Following the instructions from H.H. Penor Rinpoche, he served 11 years in the Macau Palyul Center, and Jangling Rinpoche has now completed his tenure there. At present he is a Management Consultant at Palyul Tarthang Monastery, in Golok, Qing Hai province, China and Abbot of PADMA KARPO BUDDHIST CENTRE, in Macau which was established by Jangling Rinpoche himself.

Rinpoche is pursuing the propagation of Dharma, continuing his already extensive activities for the benefit of sentient beings.
